When you first walk in the smell of sugary goodness hits you. They have a huge selection or bars, cookies, breads and tarts of every variety you can think of! They also have BUTTER TARTS and in every combination... plain, raisins, walnuts, pecans, walnut raisin, pecan raisin etc. We also ordered their apple tart, cherry tart, strawberry rhubarb tart and lemon tart. The options are endless and everything looks delicious! I cannot wait to come back, definitely one of the best stops on the butter tart tour!!!

My first time there, but not my last. There tarts are delicious and not shy on the filling, the danishes are huge. The pastry on the tarts is tasty and not thick. Tired the lemon, raspberry (yummy) cherry and blueberry. It's worth the drive to Little Britain.

Great place to stop for Buttertarts and all sorts of baked goodies. Location has been around for years and after spending a bit of time in there, it was clear it was a favourite with the locals as well. They have a variety of buttertarts and fruit tarts (plain, pecan, walnut, chocolate, coconut, strawberry rhubarb, cherry, etc.), pies, breads, scones, croissants, sausage rolls, etc. Staff are super friendly as well. Hot chocolate and fresh coffee available as well.

This cute country bakery is right off the main road, on your way to cottage country. There's lots of free parking on the left by the Canada Moose or on the boulevard. Inside it has the old bakery store front charm with two big windows of fresh good, bread on the rolling carts and the top wall shelf loaded and lined with antique tins(hoarder/collector like)
They even have gluten free products, deli, coffee and crazy big sticky buns by the cash.
I'm here for the butter tarts as a friend swears these are the best in the Lindsey/kawarthas region(I'm defending The Maids Cottage in Newmarket)
Shell- puff pastry like meets pie crust has flakey layers and much lighter than grocery store or maids cottage(shortbread crust!)
Filling- if 0 was solid gel and 10 was liquid, this got a 9.5 in goo! I cut one in half and the goo emptied leaving a shell behind! You are sopping up the plate with the crust or cleaning your chin.
Price- buy 5 or more it's $2/tart no tax!!!
Subjective to judge this place, if you like really gooey butter tarts then this is a must for you, I prefer the medium of runny with a bit of sauce but not all goo. I also prefer the short bread crust at The Maids Cottage, but service, location and other goods here make this stop a solid 4*. Tarts is a good 3* -

Folks - if you like butter tarts, you MUST stop here.
They have like about 8 varieties of butter tarts.
Please note -- they are of the "gooey" variety.
We bought the raisin/walnut, pecan/walnut and plain ones.
They are sooooo good. Flaky pastry and gooey filling. You cannot put it down once you start eating or the filling will end up on the plate lol.
We also bought some of their danishes -- the apple caramel is to die for -- and definitely shareable.
They also have homemade bread and we bought some great hamburger rolls -- nice and soft and perfect for homemade burgers.
We did stop at some other spots on the "butter tart trail". Have to say - this was my fave!
